Prince George, B.C.- There are talks underway to spare the children of Dunster from having to be bussed to McBride this fall.

The Dunster School of Fine Arts is one of the schools scheduled for closure  because of the School District 57 financial challenges.

Parents occupied the building last week, and the School District had to go to court to get an injunction to force the parents out of the building. That injunction was served on the weekend, and the parents have agreed to comply with the court order.

Yesterday Regional District of Fraser Fort George Director Ken Starchuck met with the parents as there had been some discussion of the Regional District taking possession of the building and look after maintenance of that building while the school district would provide the education portion.

In order for that to happen, the area residents would have to agree to an increase in their taxes to purchase the building. There is some question of there being enough support for that to happen.
There is still a possibility of a special society or group being formed to take possession of the building.
One thing is certain, the Ministry of Education has written a letter to School District 57 saying the building can be sold if there is an interested buyer.
