Armstrong, B.C.- An evacuation order that forced more than 200 people from their homes last evening, has been downgraded to an alert.
The evacuation was ordered for those living in the Palisades, Belva, Eagle Rock, Meadow Ridge or Twin Firs mobile home parks south of Armstrong because of health concerns arising from the massive fire at the Tolko saw mill.
The blaze in the hog fuel pile has now been contained and resident are being told they can return to their homes as of eleven this morning, but that they should be prepared to leave again if conditions deteriorate. Residents should also be prepared to show proper identification as a security measure.
The fire in the hog fuel started around 3:30 yesterday afternoon, and high winds fanned the flames, B.C. Forest Service crews helped contain the fire.
