Prince George, B.C. When it comes to patient satisfaction and quality of care, Prince George health care services rank  9th out of  a pack of 15.

That’s according to a report produced by Dr. Wallace Lockhart of the University of Regina’s Paul J. Hill School of Business.  The accounting professor looked at statistics in 45 health regions throughout the country to issue his report on quality of care, access to services and patient satisfaction.

In regions  with populations under 200 thousand, Prince George came in  9th of  15.  It was Medicine Hat  in the number one spot, while Kamloops was  number 15.  The best small region in B.C. was Campbell River which was ranked  2nd  out of 15.

P.G.  scored well  for population to physician  ratio, but slipped because the outcomes for those  with  heart conditions are below other areas within that grouping.

Lockhart says overall, "No one region does terrible at everything or is the best at everything."

In large  areas with populations over 200 thousand,  Victoria  was the highest ranked B.C. community, coming in  third behind Regina and number one ranked Moncton New Brunswick.

There were plenty of lower mainland communities at the bottom of that list.  White Rock / Surrey were tied at #25 of 30, North Vancouver was  listed as number 27,  while Abbotsford and Chilliwack were tied  for  28th place, and  Burnaby and New Westminster were tied for  number 30 out of 30.

Why don't they compare our health to other places? Seems to be more and more people dying of cancer. More cancer clinics won't change the incidence of cancer.
