Prince George - Tourism Prince George is delighted to host Vancouver radio station Rock 101 contest winners while they are in Prince George to attend the Elton John concert at the CN Centre on Friday night.

In addition to their contest prize package Tourism Prince George has arranged for our guests to enjoy a limousine service during their stay, a guided tour of the City, VIP treatment at the concert, as well as an array of local products highlighting what our community has to offer.

Based on initial negative promotion of Prince George as a select location for Elton John’s current tour, Tourism Prince George believes this response will ensure contest winners have a positive impression of Prince George. “This experience has shown us that here in Prince George, we can turn lemons into lemonade and have a bit of fun with archaic perceptions of this amazing city,” comments Sue Clark Interim Executive Director with Tourism Prince George.

Tourism Prince George promotes the city as a preferred destination for visitors traveling here for a special event, a vacation, or a longer stay to experience the urban sophistication and spectacular wilderness that live here side by side and uniquely ours.

Talk about a role reversal! PG hosting Vancouverite contest winners for a big name concert...its like living in Backwards World....
We need to get the refinery and the pulp mills to shut down for the day... :)
I sure would like to know what they plan on showing for the tour of the City.....

"On your left is our vast assortment of consignment stores.....on your right is our equally enormous array of pawn shops.."

Really, when I had a relative come to see our City it didn't take too long to show the sights!! Here's the University, College, some of the nicer shops and about half an our later we were done.

A lot of our businesses in this town don't take pride in how their business looks. Even take for example our Casino.....isn't it supposed to be something great to look at. It's the most boring building in recent memory. I would say Quesnel's Casino has more character.

I see a lot of business owners spending their money on 1 tonne pickup or their own homes. Then they are the first to complain when the City of PG isn't doing enough.

Thank God the Keg and the Ramada are renovating. I sure hope it gets some of the other business's thinking that they might do the same and make our City a nice place to live.

so a radio show down south makes some childish comments about PG and we in return bend over backwards and spend a lot of money to show these contest winners a good time and on who's dime??? and why??? do you think if we started name calling and someone from PG won tickets they would be doing the same for us?? come on now really!!! sheesh!! they set the bait and PG took it hook line and SINKER!!!

oh well I do hope they enjoy their time here as I have for the last 23 years!!

hey were is my free limo rides and schwag?? LOL
They sould have substituted wildlife for wilderness....with it being the drunks, homeless, and criminal element that run amok downtown and in the VLA.
Let us not forget that Elton is also putting on a show in Kelowna, and also Sault Ste Marie (Population 74000) He has also been to various other Canadian Citys.

Whats the Big Deal. Why does Prince George have to try and make every occasion something spectacular. Whats new and great to us is old hat for most of the rest of the Country.

I don't want any of my money going to some contest winner. Right, they don't ask us do they? Shut up and pay your taxes.
