Prince George, B.C. -  RCMP have made an arrest in connection with a brutal attack on a city man earlier this week...

Police say a 29-year-old male suspect has been taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault in connection with the beating that occurred on the corner of 5th Avenue and Harper Street late Tuesday night. (click here for earlier story)

Constable Gary Godwin says the individual now in custody was not one of two people originally taken into custody on the night of the incident and, later, released.

Godwin says the assault was not a random incident, he says officers know there is a motive, but are not releasing it.

Meantime, the RCMP spokesperson says the victim remains in Vancouver General Hospital in serious, but stable condition.  The man's age was originally given as 35, but Godwin says he's actually 39.

He says police are hoping to speak with the man once his condition improves.

I can see it now. Nobody saw or heard anything. The crime goes unpunished. The victim remains a victim.
He was a victim for a reason. Beatings are seldom a random attack.
