Prince George, B.C. - The Prince George Cougars say they're proud to announce that their top scorer this past season is moving on to university...

Cougars' graduated forward Alex Rodgers has committed to the University of Alberta Golden Bears hockey team for the 2010-11 season.

Rodgers led the team scoreboard, collecting 20 goals and 41 assists for 61 points -- all career highs.

The Salmon Arm native reached the 100 career assists plateau in the Cougars second to last game of the season, earning 4 assists against his former team, the Kamloops Blazers, on March 12, 2010.

In 258 career WHL regular season games with the Cougars, Blazers and Vancouver Giants, Rodgers had 52 goals and 101 assists for 153 points.

Rodgers joins a Golden Bears squad that captured a CIS silver medal last season. He also becomes the second graduated Cougars player from the 2009-10 season to commit to a post-secondary institution. Tyler Halliday will skate for the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack in the fall.
