P.G. Council Examines Funding Requests

Heading in to a new budget year, there are several  funding requests before Prince George City Council tonight.

There is a request  for a grant of $30,000  to help finance the B.C. Provincial Festival of the Arts.  The Festival is set for June 4th to 9th in Prince George.  Organizers have a budget of $71,000.  and project revenues of $169 thousand saying the event  will  attract some 3,000 performers from all over the province.

There is a funding request from L'heidli T'enneh Nation  for just over $6,000 to help preserve their language and to attend a special conference.

There is also a request from the  Prince George - Nechako Aboriginal employment  and Training Association  requesting  a little more than $15 and a half  thousand dollars for the "Community Linkages -Soup Bus Program".

I wonder if city council would be able to say "No" if I made a presentation - and said the people of these "Nations" are intellegent, physically able people that have had every advantage society ever offered me, and more.
The only disadvantage these nationals have is governments will not stop giving them everything.
