It has been two weeks since the Heritage Commission Chairman, convinced Prince George City Council to give KGV one last gasp, namely enough time to meet with Education Minister Shirley Bond to talk about possibly saving the 1922 structure. Councilor Don Bassermann will present his report of that meeting to Council this evening.
It is expected that following his presentation, Council will vote to accept the Staff reccomendation that KGV be demolished, and portions of it ( things like some windows and the banisters) be incorporated into some sort of commemorative display in the new Duchess Park School design.
Members of the Crescents Community Association plan to be in the gallery tonight, as the Association launched a massive advertising campaign over the weekend in an effort to raise awareness and possible funds to save KGV.
