Fire Near Riske Creek Sends Residents Packing

Meldrum Creek – The Cariboo Regional District has declared a State of Emergency and issued an Evacuation Order for a portion of the Meldrum Creek area at the Riske Creek Military Base as a result of a wildfire. Approximately 20 residents are affected by this Evacuation Order.
 
The CRD has activated a level three Emergency Operations Centre as a result of the current fires in the Cariboo Chilcotin. A temporary Emergency Social Services Reception Centre has been set up at the CRD office in Williams Lake at 180 D North Third Avenue. Residents affected by the Meldrum Creek Fire are asked to report into the Centre where trained Emergency Social Services members will be available to help.
