"Police Look For Family Of Missing Urn"

The family is missing but the Urn is not.
Methinks the Police are trying to earn their keep.
The police are trying to 'urn' their keep? Maybe the owner threww it away? Anything in it? DNA? Stop the foolishness and throw it in the garbage and forget you ever saw it.
I think the "anything in it question" is a key one. For all we know there is nothing in it.

If it was/is used for the cremated remains of a person or animnal they may actually have been strewn into the river from the bridge. That would likely not be an uncommon request. Then they forgot the urn when they left.

For all we know the people travelled there from South Africa to return the ashes to the place their grandmother was born. Then they returned back home.

Can we spin a few more scenarios with the tidbit we have been given to go by?
