Usually a quiet street. Used to live there.
A quiet street? You kidding? With the youth group home there and the mens halfway house on the corner there were always lots of reasons to call the police. Cars in the parking lot of the apartments there were always getting broken into.
Imorge, I beg to differ. I have lived here on Yew street for almost 10 years and love this street. We have great neighbours and both the Youth home and St. Patricks house have never been an issue or caused any problems. The incident in the news release occurred in the field behind Yew street and had nothing to do with any of the residents. Often there are folks that "park" in the field during the summer and I have to say that this is the first time that there had been any BIG issue with them even. So I plan on staying right here, in a good neighbourhood that enables me to walk everywhere I want to go.

Hiker, you may reside on Yew st but you mustn't have any idea what sort of stuff happens there. I do because I am dispatched to them all the time. For such a short street there are lots of calls for police service. You call it home and that's ok.
Hiker, you live in the townhouses? I have a friend there who has lived there for many years himself. Was his roomate for a year and loved the street.
I used to live in some apts in that area and never had an issue with things like this happening or breakins for that matter. The occasional gunshot heard from over in the hood is about all I can say about that area. I have no idea what profession you are in where you get "dispatched" there, I am sure you are not a cop by your initial comment, but sirens in that neighbourhood was never an issue with me.
Yes I am, acopoly...
A cop that does not care about the residents. Only to piss off the people that should not be targeted (like my neighbour calling the police on me for saying hi to her and the police will not hear my side of the story. Just hers because she is a lady).
DPJ, yes i do live in one of the townhouses and although I have lived in several areas of Prince, including places like Hart Highlands, I still find Yew street to be one of the best areas. As far as calls to our short street are concerned, yes there are a lot, because of the Halfway house and youth home. But all incidents have been entirely dealt with inside the homes. I have never had a break-in and have never felt uncomfortable living here. I guess it is all a matter of perception.
Thats true Hiker. If the townhouses were strata, I would of brought one of them myself. The fellow police man on this blog has a narrow perception of the neighbourhood. Hope he does not give Yew street a bad name to his friends because it is a marvelous little neighbourhood.
