Evacuation Order Extended Near Alexis Creek

Alexis Creek, BC – Based on recommendations from the Cariboo Fire Centre, the Cariboo Regional District has upgraded the previous evacuation alert near Alexis Creek to an evacuation order.
The area affected extends from the Alexis Creek Nazko Road in the east to the Chilko-Newton Road in the west. The southern boundary is defined by the Chilcotin River and just north of Highway 20 at its upper boundary.
For residents under Evacuation Order, an Emergency Social Services (ESS) Reception Centre has been set up at The Elks Hall located at 98 First Avenue in Williams Lake.
Those residents are requested to report to the Reception Centre where trained ESS members will be available to help them.
Highway #20 is now closed between Young Road in the east and Bayliff Road at the west end. Local residents are also encouraged to listen to the Cariboo Regional District’s Emergency Broadcast System at 102.3 FM for evacuation updates
