Prince George, B.C.- Prince George Regional Provincial Traffic Services and Integrated Road Safety Unit responded to a two vehicle collision on Highway 97 South today, around noon.

Two northbound vehicles collided near Kolling Road, south of Prince George.

The collision occurred after the first northbound vehicle, a 2009 Hyundai slowed for wildlife that was present on the highway.

A second northbound vehicle, a 2006 Chrysler, crested the hill, and went to the shoulder of the highway to avoid colliding with the Hyundai. When the Hyundai driver saw the approaching Chrysler, the driver moved to the shoulder to allow the Chrysler to go by.

Unfortunately, both drivers took the same evasive action at the same time, resulting in a crash, sending the Chrysler into the ditch. The driver of the Hyundai and the two (2) occupants of the Chrysler, were treated at the scene for minor injuries.

The driver of the Hyundai is a Prince George resident while the people in the Chrysler are from Hixon BC.

We have to start shooting the wildlife! Too many accidents.
No,too many drivers.
no. too many stupid drivers. You swerve away from people, not from wildlife.
rayban next time you see a moose on the road Dont swerve!!!....that'll teach you hey
I drive on the highway three hours a day to and from work. I see bears, moose, deer, fishers and wolves cross the highway. Fishers and wolves are a rarity and I'm grateful to see them at all. And of course lots of eagles but I don't have to worry about hitting them on the highway generally speaking. Although I did see a huge eagle feasting on some road kill on my way out to Fort St. James one time.
Although there are times we are preoccupied with thoughts, music, conversations in the vehicle, daydreaming and exhaustion, us drivers are responsible for paying attention to the road at all times. Be mindful and safe on our roads this summer.
