Peace Valley Lookout in For Brownfield Funding

Ft. St. John, B.C.- The Peace Valley Lookout is one of a dozen brownfield projects to receive funding under the Province’s Brownfield Renewal fund.
 
The Peace River Regional District made the application and will receive $12,602.
 
Brownfields are abandoned, vacant, derelict, or underutilized commercial and industrial properties, where past actions have resulted in actual or perceived contamination. These are sites that have great potential for
redevelopment when the issue of contamination is addressed.
 
The other eleven approved applications are:
 
* Squamish Oceanfront Blue Barn Arts Incubator, Squamish, $231, 250
* Tahsis Hemlock Sawmill, Tahsis, $127,673
* Former Rayleigh Correctional Site, Kamloops, $96,070
* Kamcon Construction, Burnaby, $83,347
* Former Alberni Plywood Site, Port Alberni, $63,700
* Tranquille on the Lake, Kamloops, $44,000
* Nanaimo Shipyard, Nanaimo, $40,000
* Ahoy Industrial Corporation, Richmond, $40,000
* Quadra Street Remediation, Victoria, $25,433
* Marysville Benchland Site, Kimberley, $14,450
* Ladysmith Northern Gateway, Ladysmith, $14,437
 
Last year the program approved 17 projects totalling over $1.6 million.
