Prince George, B.C.- A driver of a logging truck has been charged following a crash on Highway 16 East about 5km east of Tabor Mountain.
RCMP were called to the scene yesterday around 11:30 in the morning after a parked motor home had been struck by another vehicle.
Police attended the scene and found the drivers side of the trailer sheared away. The driver had pulled over to the side of the road for a maintenance check and while he was out of the motor home a fully loaded logging truck hit the vehicle as it passed.
The driver of the logging truck kept on going but it was later located by North District RCMP Highway Patrol due to the information received from a member of the public who witnessed the collision.
No one was injured during the incident but the Prince George couple and their young daughter realized how lucky they were as the accident could have been fatal.
The 54 yr old driver of the logging truck has been charged under the Motor Vehicle Act for Fail to remain at the scene of an accident and was also issued other fines as a result of a vehicle inspection.
RCMP are warning motorists to be fully aware of all traffic around them and if a stop is required, use designated rest stops or pull over in an area with plenty of space.
