Williams Lake, B.C. - All of the Cariboo Fire Centre's available resources continue their efforts to gain the upper-hand on the numerous fires burning throughout the region.
While there are currently 91 active fires, they've been divided into several complexes with specialized Incident Management Teams overseeing firefighting efforts.
Fire personnel are approaching 40-thousand person-hours of work on the Meldrum Complex, where fires cover a combined area of 357-square kilometres. Fire Centre officials say crews have made good progress on guard construction throughout the complex and the Highway 20 corridor, the west Fraser road and the Fraser River corridor have been secured.
Additional firefighters, heavy equipment and support staff are the scene of fires burning in the Bull Complex, where four fires cover 24-thousand plus hectares. The fire west of Alexis Creek is 51-square kilometres and is now 100-percent contained.
In the Place Complex, the fire at Dog Creek, 40-kilometres west of 100 Mile house is 73-square kilometres, is 85-percent contained and has not shown significant growth in the past 24-hours.
Finally, the two main fires in the Pelican Complex have joined by a very narrow band and now cover approximately 160-thousand square kilometres. Crews continue to establish cat guards, supported by hose lines, on the northwest and northeast flanks of the fire.
