Prince Rupert, B.C. - A man arrested in Prince Rupert on numerous counts of credit card fraud will await his next court appearance in the Prince George Regional Correctional Centre.
As a result of a joint investigation involving Prince Rupert RCMP and the BC Gaming Enforcement Branch, Shaune Michael Nelson was arrested in Prince Rupert last Friday.
Nelson made his first court appearance this week and was charged with 54 criminal code offences: 17 counts of fraud, 18 counts of uttering forged documents, 17 counts of possess, use, traffic credit card data, and 2 counts of failing to comply with conditions of a recognizance.
He's been remanded to PGRCC and will be back in court on August 30th.
Meantime, Prince Rupert RCMP are reminding businesses to always check security features and signatures on credit card and ask for a second piece of identification. Police say if the credit card does not swipe automatically, merchants should ask for another form of payment.
