Prince George, B.C. - B.C. Premier Gordon Campbell is in California to advance B.C.'s climate action partnership with the state.
In addition to meeting with Governor Arnold Schwarzeneggar and Assembly Speaker John Perez, Campbell was given the unprecedented opportunity to speak to the California State Assembly earlier today.
Campbell used the opportunity to highlight the strength of the partnership, that B.C. was the first to join. "We now have four Canadian provinces in the Western Climate Initiative representing over 60-percent of our gross domestic product." He said these provinces believe that only through a strong environment, can strong economies be built.
And the Premier thanked the Assembly for its leadership: "When you decided it was important for you to have appropriate air emissions standards for our atuomobile industry you welcomed our partnership, and indeed every province in Canada now embraces California's initiative, your leadership, your vision, and your actions."
"So for me to have an opportunity to come here to be with you today is a true honour for me and I really, truly have two words for you: Thank you."
