Thank you so much King Campbell
For what? Casino gambling was introduced to B.C. during the nineties - grants have been distributed ever since! It's business as usual, nothing to do with the King!
Nice try Gordo!
Not going to help!
This isn't even news!
Precisely! How can this routine procedure be called NEWS? Is it a a very slow weekend for really newsworthy events?

BTW, the Premier doesn't personally decide who gets a grant and who doesn't - there are (very) highly paid minions sitting in airconditioned office towers who make the decisions.

Gordon and the Gubernator have been whooping it up in California! I hope Arnie is not asking us for a lucrative power deal, the kind where the seller (B.C.) gets stiffed for the money - a billion bucks or so!
haha why do you think scumbell was there???
Some grants! Some gaming!

Does anyone have any figures of what local charities get these days compared to say the last 10 years?

And then couple that with the amount of gross revenues there are from gaming for the province over the same period.

Big picture stuff.

Also, how can I tell whether Ringette or any of the other nice to have but not quite necessary when compared to other pressing needs other groups might have?

Announcements like this may mean something to the groups that receive them, although they would already know.

So what are others supposed to get from this? Great that those groups got a grant, everyone is well deserving? Why didn't we get a grant? Why is money going to those groups and not the hungry?

I don't know scumboudicca...... why?
I just hope Campbell is not getting drunk and giving away the province for nothing as he has done in the past.
Well, what difference does it make whether he had a few or not if he has already "given away the province for nothing as he has done in the past"?

There wouldn't be a thing left to give away... so just relax!

Once given away - it's gone! OMG.

Logic. It's there to be used for free not to be ignored.
Gambling revenue was intended to go towards charities. If 9.2 million has been handed out, what happened to the remaining billion gambling takes in anually? Our leader is a crook with absolutely no morals.
This year they have refused to pay for my shoes that are doctor ordered (I am Person with Disability in B.C)this means that you the taxpayer will now be paying for someone to shop for me as well as clean my apartment. I will also be seeing an increase in my visits to the emergency dept. due to injuries I will suffer to my sacro illiac (My shoes are for a large descrepance in my leg lenght) each visit cost you about $2000 and my history without shoes shows about an increase of five visits per year. Saving $258/year in shoes at a cost of roughly $14,000 to you the taxpayer. Thanks for voting for this. If the money truely is spent on disabled people, why are we forced to live in pain and cost you thousnds of wasted dollars per year. Where is the truth Gordo?
"...what happened to the remaining billion gambling takes in annually?"

People like the casino owner/operators make money, the thousands of casino employees make good wages and benefits, the cities get a share of the revenue, the government gets a share of the revenue...P.G. gets about 12 million a year, etc. etc.

Nobody works for free. No volunteers.

Everybody has a foot in the door. What's left at the end of the year? I don't have any idea.

"Our leader is a crook with absolutely no morals."

The casinos were introduced to B.C. and P.G. not by him but by other *crooks* and they did not bring them in to generate funds for charities, specifically.

They were (and are) designed to bring in mega bucks for the government, no matter of what political stripe.

They are a business, plain and simple.

Any news about our "hydrogen highway?" I thought not.
It was just a PR stunt and everybody knew that when it was announced! The Rhinoceros Party used to make merry with stuff like that! Too bad it faded away...we need that party back again, asap!
The Rhino Party would be a better alternative and couldn't do a worse job of running the province than does Campbell's kleptocracy.
Rob the gullible and addicted through gambling schemes and then reward the rich by cutting their taxes. Give away our railway, rivers and resources while dumping taxes onto consumers.
Could anyone do worse? (A rhetorical question.)
There are the priorities, the populist causes (excepting the CP) get the big bucks.
Yet, search and Rescue depend on the Gaming Grant for most of their financial needs. This was eventually canceled last year at the last minute.

PGSAR needs those funds to provide the services they have in the past.
