Prince George, B.C. -  Thunder can be heard rolling across Prince George, as the anticipated cold front rolls into the region this hour...

Environment Canada is forecasting a heavy rainshower with winds of 30km/hour, gusting up to 60km/hour.

While the winds are expected to offer some relief, in terms of air quality, they also pose a huge hazard to the current forest fire situation.

Prince George Fire Center Information Officer, Joyce Poulin, says the winds will pack a punch -- the fire center is expecting active, aggressive fire behaviour, as the wind fans out existing fires and lightning may contribute to new starts.

Poulin says the one fire of note in the Prince George Fire Centre continues to be the Tsacha Lake fire, burning 65-kilometres north of Anahim Lake.  It covers 12-thousand hectares, but is under modified response due to its remote location and access issues.

Poulin says once the weather system passes, fire officials will go in to have a look at all fires burning in the region and will then re-prioritize firefighting efforts.

I wonder if they can put out a fire using compression. You see people do it all the time with their cigarette butts... drop compression bombs on fire hot spots, and then mop up the fire after its taken down... problem is you'd have to get the compression without the explosion... maybe some kind of electric short on impact that knocks down a 200 foot area or something like that.... or some version thereof...
