Cariboo Fire Centre, - The Cariboo  Fire Centre is hoping to catch a break from Mother Nature  as the weather is expected to provide a window of opportunity to make some progress on the major fires.

The Pelican and Bull Complexes remain the areas of greatest concern in regards to containment. The fire centre has, and will; continue to prioritize the fires, and reposition existing resources accordingly.   The fire centre continues to backfill any re-sources that have to be demobilized to manage fatigue and safety concerns.

The safety of the first responders and the public remains the Cariboo Fire Centre’s number one priority.
Meldrum Complex
 Multiple fires continue to burning within this area. Combined, the fires cover approximately 40,000 hectares, or 400 square kilometres. Yesterday the fires were fairly stable. There are no fires from the Meldrum Complex burning on the east side of the Fraser River.

Bull Complex
 The Bull Complex is now over 34,000 hectares in size. The fires received a minimal amount of rain; however some rain is forecasted for the next few days. Fire crews continue to patrol the fires’ perimeters, looking for “hot spots” (fires which smoulder below the surface of the ground). Structural Protection Units are on site within the community.

Pelican Complex
 Fire 205 expanded to more than 32,978 hectares and fire 299 is now 2,400 hectares. Today, fire weather special-ists, are expecting aggressive fire behaviour between 1 and 7 o’clock PM. Additional Structural Protection Units have arrived on site today.

Heckman Pass Fire
 The fire has been mapped at 3086 hectares . Yesterday, fire crews conducted successful burn-off operations. This is where the fuel between an established fire guard, and the fire’s perimeter is removed. By removing these fu-els, firefighters can slow the spread of the fire by forcing it to burn where they want, when they want. More burn-offs will be conducted today if conditions permit. Hwy 20 is now open on both sides of the Anahim Lake area.

Corkscrew Basin
 This fire is burning within and outside of the Itcha Ilgachuz Provincial Park and is estimated in excess of 6000 hec-tares. A Fire Analysis Plan is currently being worked on by fire suppression specialists.

They have peed away $100,000,000.00 bucks on fire control and they are now hoping for better weather. They were realy proud of the fact that they had contained the fire before it crossed the Fraser River. And then they told us that the cooler weather probably helped..

And they have just brought in a Mars Bomber which will probably chew up another hundred Million.. Wouldn’t it have been cheaper to move out the people and then pay them to rebuild.
Cheers
