WILLIAMS LAKE – Although, the evacuation order for the region has been down-graded to an alert by the Cariboo Regional District’s Emergency Operations Centre, access to the region surrounding the Pelican Complex, 70 kilometres northwest of Quesnel, has been restricted by the Cariboo Fire Centre in order to avoid interference with fire control operations.

The Cariboo Fire Centre has instituted this back-country restriction as a precautionary measure in order to ensure the protection of life and property in the area.  Anyone who wishes to enter the area will require written authorization from an official of the Ministry of Forests and Range.

The active wildfire in the area makes travelling in this area hazardous, as heavy equipment, low-flying aircraft and fire suppression crews will be actively working.  Smoke and dust will also be thick, furthering the potential for accidents.

Failure to comply with this order can result in a fine of up to 5,000 dollars and imprisonment of up to six months.

The Province, or as I call it, the B.C. Star
gossipist, tells us the smoke is drifting WEST, affecting our other provinces.
They'll never get it right will they?
Hope everyone is staying out of the bush, and staying out of the smoke.
