Value of Permits Way Up

Prince George, B.C.- The number of building permits issued in Prince George for the month of July was down compared to the same month  last year, but the year to date numbers are up and the values are more than three times last year’s total for the first seven months of the year.
 
There were a umber of significant permits issued last month:
 
• 1190 2nd Avenue, Interior and Exterior Renovations and Rooftop Patio, Terasen Gas, $2,400,000.
• 2410 Laurier Crescent, New Building (C2) on existing site, Simon Fraser Lodge Retirement Centre, $3,000,000.
• 1215 Lethbridge Street, 6299sq m Cancer Clinic Building, BC Cancer Agency Centre for the North,$40,000,000.
• 2121 6th Avenue, Window Replacement, Alward Place Senior’s Apartment, $482,890.
• 18 Single Family Dwellings, $4,531,547.50.
 
 
There was also a commercial development permit issued for the façade improvements to the Scotia Bank Building on Victoria Avenue.
 
Residential development permits issued include:
 
• 1488 2nd Avenue, 4 unit townhouse, Access Engineering for Northern Linen
• 7054 Hart Highway, 30 unit senior housing, BC Housing.

$3 million and $40 million dollars for a permit? Wow! I'd call that a handicap. Is any of that gonna be put towards our $111 million dollar debt? Or is all that dough gonna be set aside for a multitude of studies for everything up to the next election?
