Prince George, B.C.-  Expect to hear of an historic agreement today  between the McLeod Lake First Nation  and the Province of B.C..

Yesterday, the Province of B.C. signed a revenue sharing agreement with the Stk'emlupsemc of the Secwepemc Nation in Kamloops.

That deal provides for revenue-sharing with the Province on the mineral tax royalties from the New Afton Mine being built near Kamloops. The agreement places a strong focus on community development to assist First Nations in achieving their social and economic goals.

It is expected a similar agreement will be signed later this morning with the McLeod Lake First Nation for revenue sharing from mineral tax royalties from the Mount Milligan mine.

Minister of State for Mining, Randy Hawes says the agreement signed in Kamloops, “sends a signal to the mining industry that B.C. is a stable and progressive place to invest."

Ah Northman I like your taste in tunes. Mark Knopfler and Dire Straits are good.
Hey, Thank you first nations. for working with us to build our province.

Thank you mine owners, for giving up the old red neck ways, and accepting the 21st century.

Thank you EA people for stopping mines that are not willing to get on board. It is not acceptable to use any lake for mine tailings, those days are over. I should say over for this province. The people have spoken. The price of gold and copper is high enough, if you want to make a go of it, keep it with the smallest foot print as possible.

Way to go Derek, I hope that with your leadership, MLIB will become a great success story. If you never venture to try something new, it will never get any better.

heheh!...good one northman!
I think that is a great idea on distributing tax revenue throughout the province.

Mr Campbell has proven he cannot manage the provinces bank account, and having some of the tax revenue distributed at source can only prove benificial for the greater good of the province.

Perhaps non-FN's communities could get on board with this revolutionary tax revenue sharing, and communities such as Fort St James and Mackenzie could reap some of the tax revenue collected from the vast forest districts in which they reside.
its time that our aboriginals got a fare shacke. For 300 years they have been on the shelf at them whims of thier conquers.
Its toime they had thier independence.

We just spent more then a billion bucks on glitz. We alow the profits from our natural resourses to leave our country. The money that our city pees away on stupidity would probably assit a band for their need for a good long time.
Cheers
Im going to go open a ford dealership on McLeod Lake with a liquor store inside wohhhooo I'm going to be Rich!!!
On the radio it said at todays market price the revenue to MLIB over the mine life would be around $34 Million.
This is a good move long over due. Good to see McLeod lake leading again as a band looking towards the future working together to build this province.

I also agree that we need to see more resource revenue distributed directly to the adjacent communities rather then going through the bureaucrats hands in Victoria.
Well said "He spoke"
I wonder who " Lost it all " thinks will be the next guy to try and sink the province?
Maybe we need the "Zalm" back in the big chair eh?
