Quesnel, B.C.- The 2009 City of Quesnel Drinking Water Report indicates water use in that community was up by about 3% over use in 2008 and there is no problem with the quality of the water.
The annual report was presented to Quesnel City Council this week.
The report describes the system and the overall results of water quality testing during 2009.
For this report, 313 samples were taken and after re-sampling five initial samples which indicated, exceedences, there were no coliform or E. Coli found in the City’s drinking water.
The report also revealed the April 2009 Boil Water Advisory in South Quesnel was found to be a case in which proper sampling procedure was not followed (a resident supplied a sample that was submitted directly to the lab for testing. After re-sampling and testing, no problems were found).
The City of Quesnel’s water system is made up of six wells, eight reservoirs, five booster pump stations, two main pressure reducing valve systems and about 100 kilometres of water mains.
