Prince George, BC – The Prince George Cougars will host a 2010 CHL SUBWAY® Super Series game between Team WHL and the Russian National Junior Team on Thursday, November 18 at CN Centre.
Team WHL will renew their rivalry with the Russian National Junior Team in Kamloops on Wednesday, November 17 as the Blazers will host the first game of the Western Swing and fifth game of the series, with the Prince George Cougars hosting the sixth and final game of the Super Series on Thursday, November 18.
“The Prince George Cougars are extremely excited for the opportunity to host a national CHL event as prestigious as the CHL SUBWAY® Super Series,” said Cougars Vice President Brandi Brodsky. “The ability to hold an event of this calibre will allow the city of Prince George the opportunity to showcase our city and wonderful facility to increase our chances of hosting a Memorial Cup in the near future.”
The series features regional teams of CHL All-Stars, including Team WHL, competing against the Russian National Junior Team and serves as an integral part of the identification process for Team Canada just prior to Canada’s National Junior Team Selection Camp for the 2011 IIHF World Junior Championships to be held this season in Buffalo, New York.
“The WHL greatly anticipates continuing our rivalry with the Russians in the SUBWAY® Super Series,” commented WHL Commissioner Ron Robison. “We know our fans in Kamloops and Prince George will enjoy the opportunity to watch the WHL’s best take on the Russians in this special preview of the World Junior Championship.”
Cougars Season Ticket Holders will be able to purchase tickets to this event starting Saturday, September 4 at 10:00am at the CN Centre box office or the Ticketmaster Cougars charge-by-phone line at 250-564-5585.
