Another summer is behind us,  another month ahead.  This will be a busy month, with Meisner returning to the airwaves  Tuesday September 7th, school  back in on the 8th, the Joint Review Panel  on the Enbridge pipeline proposal  in town on Wednesday, a delegation heading to  China to explore the opportunity  of twinning Prince George with a Chinese community, the BC Rail  trial  to resume and the Legislature Standing Committee to meet  about the  HST petition.  It will be a busy fall, but today is your day to speak  up on the  issues that  matter to you.

It is the Friday Free For All.

The rules are simple:

  • Keep it clean
  • Keep it legal
  • No Bullying of other posters.

Have a safe weekend all....

and to those of you who think the rules are made for everyone but them, cause they are "special", enjoy your tickets!
Jordan Bateman, the Langley Liberal riding association president, wrote on his blog Thursday that the government's handling of the HST has been one blunder after another and the minister Colin Hansen should resign.
He was quick to retract that statement...
any bets his job was threatened by Campbell or one of this cronies?
It's called the Paul Nettleton Syndrome...open your mouth, speak up against the Liberals and get fired
Where do our local MLAs stand on the HST? If it comes to a vote in the Legislature, will they vote for the popular will or support Campbell's beloved tax?
I look forward to the recall campaigns to follow if they abandon the citizens, yet again.
Me too SummerSoul...where do I sign!
Where do our local MLAs stand on the HST?

Right behind Campbell and Hansen pounding their fists on the table in support.
If the roof of our courthouse is copper, why is it not cleaned? It seems kind of a waste.
Roofs which are made of real copper are never cleaned! They are allowed to oxidize and acquire a beautiful green colour - which is called a patina!

It takes a few years, give it some time!
The HST & the BCR court action all coming up soon. I wonder what kind of crap the Liberals will come up with to distract all the sheeple yet again?
Says in the freepress today that Bell and Bond will not change their mind on the HST...so that tells me they will bow under to Campbell and vote to keep the HST .... so maybe we could show me Bell , who owns Wendy's that we don't support him either...
Lets go Lions.
Lets go Lions.
U libtards out there R ya happy now!! look at what ya did.
Clark resigned,Harcourt resigned and they did NADA.This clown who the hell does he think he is[I think he's DRUNK]the stooge, lets get on with this recall.
Bond and Bell SUPPORT the HST fully,of course Bell does he owns WENDY'S,HE likes the 6 buck thing too.
They really must think we R totally StOOpId,well roll another one folks.
Wheres Campbell now,he can run but he can't hide.
2 crackshacks taken down, needle exchange soon too be out of business!!
Bell Bond how do you even have the nerve to show yourselves in public!
This is what Vaughn Plamer said today in his article on Hansen, Campbell, and the HST

"(Hansen) didn't study his own briefing notes. Didn't pay attention to the game-changing developments in Ontario. Didn't have a clue really.

Not much of a defence for his own qualifications to serve as minister of finance. But considering that the alternative explanation would be systematic lies and coverup, I guess it was the best he could do."

That about says it all, don't you think?
It's interesting that reporters like Palmer and whoa!..even Keith Baldry..are starting to say some pretty harsh things about Campbell and Hansen and the Liberals in general.
How rare is that?
Baldry has been so careful about what he says, that he has little credibility left.
These people know things that we don't because they are close to the source.
I suppose that in fear of being banished to the sidewalk outside the parliament buildings by Campbell and his heavyweights, they are very careful what they say.
Maybe that is going to change?
Bell and Bond are giving the finger to their ridings, but the mystery is why?
What's worth so much to them that they would commit political suicide for the likes of Gordon Campbell and Colin Hansen?
Their fat pensions are secure,so that can't be the reason, although it will be for some Liberal newbies.
There has to be something extremely self-serving in it for those who choose Campbell over those who elected them!
What is it?
Andyfreeze-if they speak out against the HST, they will be dropped from cabinet at the very least. I think cabinet pay is about $50 grand a year. Does that answer your question?
The handwriting is on the wall on this HST thing: either eat crow and do what the people want or face political banishment and a one-way trip into the land of political Oblivion!

The longer they wait the worse it gets!

Call Harper, arrange a meeting, undo the HST, pay the required penalty and go back to square one!

Harper gave them a poison pill disguised as a 1.6 billion dollar carrot!

I doubt that Flash, but I guess everyone has their price!
But that still doesn't account for the backbenchers who sit in the dark like mushroomsanyway.
Not part of the inner circle.
What's in it for them...beside political oblivion from aligning themselves with Campbell at a time like this?
Seems like they are awfully damn scared of the Campbell mafia to me!
How did they get to Jordan Bateman?
Radar detector saved me from 2 revenue enhancment traps this morning. It's nice to be 'special'.

Why not take all the HST ranting to one of the HST posts & leave the free-for-all for topics haven't already been beaten to death?
Maybe what Campbell should do is go back and meet with the Bilderberg group and find out what they think he should do with the unruly sheeple. Who knows, maybe that is where he is right now since he is nowhere to be found. How dare we sheeple not cooperate with the elitists agenda!
What a shame it is that those who are so passionate about scrapping the HST and have legitimate concerns of the liberal government in power reduce themselves to ad hominem attacks and childish insults which completely discredit their point of view. Seriously, if we want to enlighten folks should we really be insulting them with lackluster puns?
I agree with weaksauce .... take the HST stuff to two other topics that are already out there, one under views, the other under news .....

I see the new Sandman is finally partially open. They will have to hurry up to complete the outside before cold temps set in once more.

Time to think about building some serious meeting spaces there or at the Casino so that people can come to town for a convention or smaller meetings, stay at one of about 5 or 6 nearby hotels, eat at several nearby restaurants, be entertained at the casino cabaret, or the nearby CN Centre, and shop at the Pine Centre.
It is the Friday Free For All.

The rules are simple:

•Keep it clean
•Keep it legal
•No Bullying of other posters.

These are the rules for friday free for all. I can post about the HST here if I like. The No Bullying part is the sentence those of you who try to dictate what can be posted in this thread should pay CLOSE ATTENTION TO.
Looking at the world in general, I see by my calendar that Iran is one week closer to being bombed by Israel. On a more local note, regarding our carbon tax on our gasoline purchases, how is that working out? A real pocket emptying tangible tax tied to hypothetical human caused global warming scenario. If it is such a good ideas why don't all provinces have a carbon tax? Any tangible results seen from this tax yet? Or is it just another five years til we see results from this tax? Kinda like our HST. Boycott. Boycott. Boycott. But then again, you put ten people in a room and none of them will or can agree on what to have fer lunch. Cut down boozing, smoking, and gambling. That will hurt the government more than whining and threatening to get our pitchforks out. Put the provincial government into bankruptcy court. They can't print money. Only Ottawa can. In closing, anyone know how much the interest rate is and what is the interest and principle on our city's $111 million dollar debt? Bankrupt them all. We are.
Municca .....

I am not sure who is bullying.

One needs to differentiate between suggestions and demands.

So highlighting what purports to be a suggestion but is a bit stronger than that by the fact that it is written in UPPER CASE, in my opinion at least, is much closer aligned with bullying.

;-)

Nice weather out, isn't it.

What's the price of gold today, anyway? Anyone heard?
Gus...Gold is $1246.60 @ 2:00.PM....down $4.60 today.
To those of you who use the term "Sheeple" - please define this term. Do you use it for anyone who disagrees with your point of view?
regardless of what your whining about as per govt , these idiots will never work together for the peoples interests, its a old game with new faces every time, money, greed make govt just try watching the house in session, need i say more??
Bell, Bond what is it like to support and be part of the most disgusting corrupt government in Canadian history.
Most corrupt government in Canadian history? That is a bold statement.

Well okay, that's the price of bullion, but we get a lot more than that for the nuggets - as much as 3x maybe 5x for nice ones !!

Never will forget the old couple on their way South, huddled at the next table in the Wander Inn cafe in Cache Creek a few years back - had a nugget the size of a large dinner spud - pretty exciting to see !!

They were pretty giggly - a real joy to share their moment.

:-)

"To those of you who use the term "Sheeple" - please define this term. Do you use it for anyone who disagrees with your point of view"

Sheeple - in the context of a debate, a word used by one person to describe another person who disagrees with them, when the said person is unable to use facts, logic or persuasive argument to sway the other persons opinion.

LOL :)
sheeple also refers to those people who follow along behind whomever has made a statement, ie: government, without complaint, being complacent and blindly as sheep
Most corrupt government in Canadian history?

They sure seem corrupt to me and liars on top of it all.
Glad to see the Police have taken down a gang run house on Oak St. I hope they keep up the good work, neighbours we have to keep phoneing the Police on drug houses , hookers , pimps, drug dealers. We have to take back our neighbourhood and protect our children. We have to fight for own survival and saftey. To M.K. we do not want your dream of a big wellness center in any reidential area, our area can not take any more problems. To Nothern Health, talk to the People befor you buy the land with our money.
So, BCRacer, according to your own explanation, those people who agree with your statement(s) and agrument(s) without complaint are sheeple?
Wandered through Sprucelands Save On Foods store today. Lotsa renovations going on. Last time they did renos there was when Costco opened up. Went in there when Costco was finished. I asked the manager there if Costco made them do this?(renos). He replied no. He said they were gonna do it anyway. Do you suppose Wally Marts food floor has anything to do with Save-on in Spruceland? I must ask again next time I go there.
Save on Foods is such a rip off and it's because there isn't anywhere else to shop in this town. Well I guess if you like Stupid store or Costco foods which you have to pay them to walk into their store. Another thing get rid of the R.C.M.P and how about listening to the voters and rid the H.S.T. Oh hey could the R.C.M.P make some money on cell porn. How about they murder some more people and give them a metal too.
"If the roof of our courthouse is copper, why is it not cleaned? It seems kind of a waste"
Copper roofs only attain a green patina (inland) after many years, this process occurs more quickly in or near coastal areas ( salt air?)
At any rate, the courthouse roof in Prince George is not really solid copper, it is a thin veneer of copper bonded to a torch on roofing material. Check in another 25 years, it may patinate in a greenish hue.
metalman.
gas in Calgary, 91.9! Beer at Superstore Liquor Store, Presidents Choice pilsner, $11.99 a dozen, when you buy 2.

Roads are as smooth as silk compared to PG. There ain't no HST, and there ain't no PST.

Glad I made the move. 58 years in Prince George, and they never bought me a trip to China. Stinky town needs a real shake up. The title Pig Gorge is not that far off.

Get your heads out of the sand, and stand up to the CITY COUNCIL CRAP!!!
"copper roofs only attain a green patina (inland) after many years"

Urea/ammonia speeds up the process very quickly.

In the past, as in the Parliament Buildings in Ottawa, for instance, they used horse urine to coat it after installation. I recall they re-roofed large section several decades ago and it turned green within a year or two since they treated in that way.

I believe the courthouse roof in PG has been treated so that it will not turn green in the near future. For the life of me, I do not understand why since the oxidation of the copper actually provides it with a natural green coating that protects the copper and makes it last longer.
I discovered today that the City of Ottawa is finally getting an LRT system with 4 stations in the downtown going underground. $600million from the province and matching funds from the feds.
[url]http://www.ottawalightrail.ca/en/newsroom/2010/08/province-gives-%E2%80%9Cgreen%E2%80%9D-light-for-ottawa-lrt-project/[url]

So, we are paying part into that $600million. Around $1.25 million of our income and GST taxes are going in that direction.

One can also look at it in another way. With a population of 812,000 in the 2006 census, they are getting about $740 per person.

If we were going to get the same funding per person for an improved transit system that would amount to over $52 million. With a provincial match that would be over $100million.

Probably a waste of money in our case.

House $550,000 when you buy one .... LOL

When you buy 2 .... $1.1million :-)

Sounds like a good beer. Notice that 12 cans in Quebec cost as much as 6 in Ontario. Ah, the advantage of living in Quebec. Lifestyle "stuff" is much cheaper there.
