Vancouver, B.C. - After completing a duty status review of the four RCMP regular members involved in the Kamloops cell block incident ,  the Acting Commanding Officer of the RCMP's E Division  has suspended with pay the supervising Corporal and two of the three Constables.

The officers are alleged to have  watched as two female cell mates engaged in consensual  sex  and did nothing to intervene.  Three City of Kamloops employees are also  implicated in this incident,  ( see previous story) they have also been suspended.

The incident is the subject of an internal   investigation as well as a criminal investigation.

Hey guys--take a holiday on the taxpayers while this cools down OK?
another example of why the rcmp have lost their credibility.
right on squirl. Go back to your RCMP videos supertech.
Suspended with pay. Beats a slap on the wrist. Wonder if the suspended days will coincide with the regular days off so the officers get an extra long weekend?
Sounds like they are getting a vacation instead of a punishment.
Go home til we figger this out, and NO VIDEOS!
With pay yet. What ever so you want me to say thats okay they were only being boys. Give me a break. Like we can't have a Provincial Police force and not have current members getting hired into new force and learn from the mistakes of the R.C.M.P. Thats what I stressed today on the phone to Shirley Bond's office.
There's over five thousand rcmp members in BC alone. Don't stereotype them all just because of the misdeeds of a few.
Why not?

The RCMP is an institution. The US Marines is an institution.

If you want to become a member, you should be selected on the basis of upholding the honour of such institutions. If you do not know what that means, or you cannot do that, then those should go to another organization.

When a member steps out of line, whether ethically or legally they need to be judged by the standards of that force, not by an ordinary standard. If one does not like that, go elsewhere.

Very simple.
When this story first came out, it was said that one of the women was hiv positive. For some reason, that is not mentioned anymore. hmmmmm...
I truly believe if you took a poll you would see people would favor Provincial Police Force as to our Federal Police force with what has currently happening I would makes bets on a new force in the future. Thats what I think. You must remember New York Police was corrupt. This is a National Police force we are talking about here. Just bare that in mind.
look around the govt are crooks the criminals get off the cops are drunk watching drunk lesbos etc anyone see a pattern?? hahahaha ah,,, what a joke !! i feel sorry for our kids
Big deal a paid holiday
And the press will suck every second they can out of this....
Amazing we never hear much about, or at least for long, the bad doctors, lawyers, cooks, newspaper editors, or other jobs that have bad people in them,,, just the police..
As for provincial police , we had them once...they weren't any better ..
Imorge....I agree that we should not stereotype all RCMP members, personally,I know some damn good ones, but out in the real world,if you do something serious enough to find yourself suspended, you don't get paid.
You have to wait until you get a chance to prove why you should have your job back, after whatever it was that you were supposed to have done!
Why do RCMP memebrs always end up suspended with pay?
There is an RCMP member from Shawnigan Lake who has been suspended with pay for two years!
Two years?
Why would it take that long for the suspended member to have a fair hearing?
We see far too much of that within the RCMP and that is where the negativity comes from.
And why are we seeing so many members getting themselves in deepsh**t over the last few years?
What the hell is happening within the RCMP,because it is becoming increasingly obvious that SOMETHING is indeed, very wrong!
For crying out loud, if people would pay attention - so far it is all ALLEGED. Thats why they are sent home with pay, until the investigation is complete. THEN the discipline will be put in place. They cant just fire them all and then do the investigation. There is a process...
Interceptor is correct 100%. And andyfreeze, the process drags on and on because of the slowness of RCMP management and the RCMP Act. In other work places and even municipal forces in about 6 months the necessary hearings on code of conduct investigations can be complete. I know the members involved if they admit to allegations just wish to have the matter dealt with if it involves a fine. If it involves dismissal then that is another matter and one really is entitled to the time it takes to defend oneself.
The Brown commission sought to deal with these things but in all the time that has passed jack *&^t has happened. The problems with the rcmp are at the top.
Solution, only one person to a cell.
