PG AIR Proceeds With Phase III Plan

Prince George, B.C.- The PG Air Improvement Roundtable (PG AIR) continues to work on its Phase Three plan for improving the quality of air in Prince George.
This phase is aimed at achieving the fine PM emission reduction targets adopted by PG AIR in January of 2009. Those targets are to meet the new provincial ambient PM2.5 objectives and to have a reduction in all significant emission sources.
The Provincial Ambient PM 2.5 objectives are as follows:

During the recent wildfire smoke advisories, the 24 hour average level of PM 2.5 in Prince George hit a record high of 102 µg/, a mark that was 65% higher than the previous record set in 2004. The highest hourly mark was reached on August 5th when it hit 283 µg/m3 .
PG AIR has now developed sub-committees to conduct research and develop the Phase 3 plan.
PG AIR will hold special facilitated sessions this month to further the work on the plan which is scheduled to be finalized by the end of November.
