Alexis Creek – A hay farmer working a field about five kilometers northeast of Alexis Creek has discovered human remains.
The area in which the farmer was working is known locally is Anaham Meadow and is in an area where a man disappeared while riding his ATV.
Police say the remains are human and no foul play is believed is suspected.
Police have secured the scene and are awaiting the arrival of a Forensic Anthropologist. An extensive search of the area involving RCMP Forensic Identification Services, Police Dog Services, and Air Services is planned for today. Assistance is also being sought from the local Search and Rescue team.
The investigation is also considering that there is an ongoing missing person case from the area.
On May 5th, 2010 Dickson James Alphonse was reported missing to Alexis Creek RCMP. He was last seen leaving the Anaham Reserve on an ATV on May 4th, 2010 at approximately 10:00 pm.
The ATV he was riding was later located near the Anaham Meadow. An extensive search for Mr. Alphonse was conducted, however he was never located.
Police will be looking at the Alphonse case and the possibility that the remains located are those of Dickson Alphonse. Police are in possession of dental records and a comparison, if possible, will be made in the near future.
