Family Watches In Horror As Plane Crashes

Vernon -   Transport Canada and the RCMP are investigating a plane crash that claimed two lives yesterday at the Mable Lake Air strip near Lumby.
 
Witnesses say that the small plane took off and then attempted to land on two occasions. On the third attempt the aircraft appeared to shake heavily and then crashed into a field owned by the operators of the plane.
 
The whole crash took place before family members as they watched in horror as the events unfolded.
 
The plane broke into flames as it crashed, claiming the lives of the two men in it.
 
The pilot was a 53 year old man from Lumby, his passenger another family member age 45 also from Lumby.
 
Police say the weather was unsettled at the time of the crash with heavy winds in the area.
 
Transport Canada is investigating.
