Prince George, B.C. - For the second time in  a month,  a 75 year old man has been arrested as the prime suspect in a  bank robbery.

Earlier today, Prince George RCMP were called to a robbery in progress at the CIBC Bank located at the Spruceland Mall in the 700 block of Central Street.

RCMP were advised that an elderly male had entered the bank and demanded money from the clerk. He was described as being Caucasian, 75 to 80 yrs old , had wavy grey hair, facial stubble and was wearing a long down jacket with grey jogging pants.

Police located the suspect who was not far from the area and he was taken into custody without incident.  He is being held for a court appearance on a robbery charge.  Constable Lesley Smith says the court has been advised of  extenuating circumstances namely the suspect's age and mental condition.

On August 13th, the same senior citizen was  arrested in connection with a hold up at the ScotiaBank in the Spruceland mall.

Poor soul can't afford the HST just like all the other seniors on a fixed income.
lock the idiot away seriously anyone else would be getting 2 years a robbery
Lock him up. See how he likes his meals provided by the prison.
Obviously a nut job.
Maybe thats why he did it to get three squares a day and care.
I'm kinda at a loss fer words about this guy. Believe it or not.
When asked why he kept holding up banks John Dillinger said: "What else can I do? That's where they keep the money!"
If they knew there were "extenuating circumstances" the first time, why didn't anyone take of them at that time?
I think the point should be that the facility that Gary lives in is simply not taking the proper steps to keep Gary In. The judge issued an order that he stay at the facility and the facility knew of his history and still they did not protect a mentally suspected elder from doing damage to himself and others. Another case of government cutbacks causing a shortage of much needed funding to run these facilities. What cost more funding facilities or paying the police to arrest and house gary not to mention the court costs. Spend a dime to save a penny.

I can hear the whining already about this post but the reality is the reality.
REALIST .... why would anyone who has a brain whine about your post? It is almost the only reasonable one so far on here.

So is Noisy's.

And I can appreciate Harbinger's loss for words in this case.
I think that is the story here, why did this happen again. As is so often written, and we know ourselves to be true in this case, "the person is known to the police"!!!

Where is social services in all this???
I am aware that if you are held in custody, you will get the absolute best medical attention without standing in line, including dental. Hardly seems right that criminals come first when we talk about health care. However, that's the way it is and maybe that was his motive. Might not be a mental case after all.
My mom recently passed away after almost a decade of suffering from dementia. I have experienced this disease first hand, seeing a person's changing behavior and trying to justify why they behave/act out the way they do. I've met dozens of elderly patients who suffered from dementia, alzheimers & other mental issues in my moms stay at 5 different care facilities as her illness progressed. I don't know if this is the "mental health" problem with this gentleman or not but if it is, but I can state with certainty that this man would have more care dedicated to him through the court system than the comedy show I witnessed at the NHA facilities we had to deal with.
