Prince George, B.C. - While Fort George Park will feature the PGSO today, there will be 'music' of quite another sort at Cottonwood Island Park, as dog lovers and advocates gather with their pooches for the annual 'Paws For A Cause'.
The annual fundraising walk is a huge help to the North Cariboo Branch of the BC SPCA.
Registration for the event begins at 12noon. It's a minimum $25-donation for adults and $10 for children. Opinion250 contributor and host of CFIS', "Kathi's Kreature Korner", Kathi Travers is the event's MC. The walk is scheduled to begin at 1pm, but there are plenty of 'extras' including an art tent sponsored by the Two Rivers Art Gallery.
Similar walks are being held around the province today. The top fundraiser in B.C. will receive four tickets anywhere WestJet flies. Locally, the top adult fundraiser will win one night's accomodationj at the Coast Inn of the North, with dinner at Winston's. According to the local branch's website, it looks like Sheri Grantham may be the fundraiser to beat, at $27-hundred dollars, although 'Katie the Dog' has raised $500.
