Prince George- A rookie RCMP constable who drove a police vehicle while under the influence, brought an underage female into a beer garden, worked a road block after drinking and then took pictures of a party he was attending with a police vehicle, asking some of those present to cover the license plate so he couldn’t be detected, now works as a constable here in Prince George.
The Vancouver Sun is reporting that Constable Chris Christinger has been docked ten days pay for the events, the largest fine that can be levelled, short of being fired, by an RCMP disciplinary group.
The incident took place after Constable Christinger, an officer at Alexis Creek, was sent to Bella Coola to help police the annual rodeo.
According to documents obtained by the Vancouver Sun, Christinger arrived in Bella Coola several hours before his 4:30 p.m. shift began. He went to the rodeo where he had four vodka type coolers. He then headed back to his hotel, changed into his Mountie uniform and drove off to the Bella Coola detachment.
He was put on road block duty and that is where a senior officer went to relieve him of his duties after being told that he had been seen drinking earlier.
He gave a breathalyser at the scene and was pronounced okay. He was told to go home and not report for work until the following day.
Christinger, however, wasn’t done partying; he went to the home of an 18 year female he had met earlier at the rodeo.
The Constable then encouraged the female and her friends to jump into the police truck for pictures, which were later posted on Face Book.
Constable Christinger told the young women to cover the plate so as to not identify the police vehicle.
He then headed back to the motel, changed again, and then headed back to the rodeo where he told security guards that one of the women was of legal drinking age even though she wasn’t.
The police disciplinary panel said he had displayed disgraceful conduct.
He had been with the RCMP eight months before the incident.
