Prince George, BC.- RCMP say alcohol and speed were contributing factors in a crash that has left a 25 year old male in critical condition.
On Friday night, Prince George RCMP responded to a Motor vehicle Collision on 2nd Avenue and Moffat Street. (see previous story)
Police were advised that a Nissan Truck was driving southbound through a back alley at a high rate of speed when it failed to stop and collided with a vehicle driving east bound on 2nd Avenue.
North District Traffic Services and a Collision Analyst were called to the scene and the area was secured for the investigation.
A 25 yr old male driver was directly hit by the truck and suffered serious injuries. He was air lifted to Vancouver General Hospital via Air ambulance where he remains in critical condition. The 2 male passengers of the vehicle were uninjured and continue to assist police with their investigation.
The 17 yr old driver of the truck and his passenger were not injured during the collision but police advise that alcohol and speed are contributing factors with this incident and the investigation is still underway.
Charges against the truck driver are pending.

Just ban this idiot from driving for 10 years until he grows a brain.
Stupid. I hope it haunts him for the rest of his life! The 5 minutes' probation he'll get won't cut it.

People have been in a bigger hurry than usual, it seems. I was driving up the Hart on Saturday and people were easily doing 100 in the 70 zone. I was passed like I was standing still. On Friday night some moron tailed me in a 60 zone and had to slam on his brakes when I had to slow down for the guy ahead of me.

SLOW DOWN!
Underage drinking and disregard of driving laws. This kid should never be allowed to receive a drivers license again..IMHO
Won't work Junco, he'll just drive anyway. I say throw him in jail for the same length of time a convicted killer would receive. These scum bags deserve nothing less.
noisy. I was driving on the Hart on Sunday and a guy in a red Ford Sport actually passed another vehicle on the outside lane (oncoming)I've haven't seen that for years! He zig zagged in and out of traffic, cut off another vehicle and then turned left practically right in front of it at the lights by Hart Wheel Inn. He was going so fast I couldn't get his plate number as he came out of no where and passed me. I hope he gets nailed when the new law regarding excessive speed comes into effect or takes himself out in an accident before he takes anyone with him.
lifetime driving ban for this meat stick
I hope they put both of these guys in jail for a very long time, they deserve it. I have lost family members because of "jerks" like you that think drinking and driving is some how fun. Two years ago my brother was also hit by a drunk driver, this time the drunk driver died and his two passengers. My brother is still in lots of pain and will never get better.
It is so sad that with all of the rules and changes in getting a license, this tragic nonsense continues to happen. All the rules in the world cannot and will not change irresponsible behavior.

The 17 yr old driver shouldn't be allowed to drive for 10 years as a minimum. He has affected the life of another young man forever. We are all continuing to pray for a miracle for the injured man.
hope the injured gentleman recovers.
Do all you people who write in here think that heavier fines and new rules will stop drinking and driving? Do all of believe that laws and fines will stop speeding. You must really be young and naieve if you plan on stopping accidents and death. No matter how hard the legislature smokes and mirrors you in the name of 'safety',we will never be free from accidents. All the education you can ram down the throats of our citizens will not save one death. We can't cure stupid and none of us are perfect.
Over the past 26+ years I have pulled many people from wrecks along our highways, a lot of them were from speed & alcohol. It is not just under age drivers that are drinking and driving. The worst part is that most of the time the impaired driver is so relaxed they only get minor injuries and the people in the other vehicles are killed or seriously injured. People are going to keep drinking and driving as long as courts keep giving people that get caught minor sentences. I believe that people that get caught should have to work for the family of the injured for as long as the person is unable to work or fend for themselves. If they kill someone then they should spend the rest of their lives in prison. This is just my opinion.
Hmm another fine example of good parenting!!
Parents really need to give some thought to their parenting. I see so many of todays youth growing up with no sense of consequence, but then what do we expect when there are none. This guys behavior didn't just start with this incident, he's been an undisciplined child for quite some time I'd bet.
So I hope his parents suffer some consequences for their kids actions!
Censored may not have been a parent yet and I have not. BUT I have friends who are parents of teenagers and to keep the children this age in a staight path of morality and general is like guiding a ship back on track. Takes a long and patient time to do so.
Too many folks taking the easy way out--divorce and party, neglect the kids, give them money to leave you alone. Happening in some of my family members. Instant grattification is more important to the new generation than helping their kids to grow up smart and confident.
As one of the residents of the home where the accident happened I would like to say that we believe that Speeding was more of a factor then Alcohol was in this accident, yes there was alcohol involved but that was not to main cause in our opinion! Get better soon!!!
