30th Annual Terry Fox Run Underway

Prince George, B.C.- They are off and running, walking, biking , blading. The annual Terry Fox run is underway in Prince George on a 5 km loop through the Millar Addition. It got underway moments ago from the Terry Fox statue in the Community Foundation Park at the 4 Seasons pool.
This is the 30th anniversary of the event and it is being marked by a special anniversary cake and a Bar-B-Q and raffle.
Everyone attending has been encouraged to wear their Terry Fox t-shirts from the past 30 years to celebrate the anniversary says Liza Arnold, co-organizing Chair “We’ll also be selling 30th anniversary t-shirts and commemorative shoelaces.”
30th Anniversary events include:
- 10:00 AM – 2 PM: run/walk
- 11:00 AM – 1 PM: BBQ
- 12:00 noon: Cake cutting and cupcake serving | Raffle draw for 30th anniversary quilt and $30 gift certificates
Terry Fox’s legacy has been celebrated in Prince George since he ran the local 17 mile “Boston to Prince George Marathon” (now the Labour Day Classic) in 1979. That was the race which Terry used to measure his ability to take on
the coast to coast "Marathon of Hope."

Worldwide, the event has risen over $550 million for cancer research, by 35 million participants in 40 countries with 87 cents of every dollar going to fund cancer research- the highest percentage of annually raised money of any other cancer foundation in the world!
