The  money left over will be used to  repave a section of Massey Drive, between Ospika and Foot Street.

The  work will be done tomorrow, and  will  repair 0.414 lane kilometers of roadway.  The cost of the project is $50 thousand dollars and all work is to  be completed  in one day.

best news ever. its about time that part got done. i almost had to buy a 4x4. now for the rest of the city.
Holes were being filled in the westbound lanes today by the Pothole Patrol.Eastbound lanes are satisfactory, however better to have smooth road heading into traffic rather than into an elementry school neighborhood to help regulate speed.
The City is going to borrow $3.6 Million dollars for their share of the upgrade to River Road. This is now a nice piece of road, with bike lanes, lights, etc; etc;

Very little industry left on River Road, and rumours have it that there will be even less by this time next year., In addition we no longer have the 4 or 5000 trucks from bear lake with lumber for Winton Global. Nor will we have the 300 trucks a year that were going to the pulp mills with hog fuel, once the infamous Community Energy System is completed. Once you take out approx 2000 trucks per year for the CN Intermodal Terminal, you have a net decrease of approx 2000 trucks per year.

I beleive that $3.6 Million spent on River Road is more than the City spent on all the streets in Pr George this year.

Anyhing wrong with this picture?
.4 Km costs 50 thousand? Once you have the machinery in place wouldn't it be wise to do a little more?
We can spend 20 million on 1800 athletes for the winter games but we can't borrow anything to pave roads or repair infrastructure? I noted in the paper that the feds and province will only supply 6 million out of the 20 they predict. I predict more than 20 million and am taking all bets. Sucks to be us.
Yup, supertech but that would be too sensible to do more. Nobody ever question why one side of Ospika got paved and the other is still a goat trail? - Using the equipment when it is in place is just too sensible. Better to pay twice for the paving equipment to get shuffled around the city.
