Police Call For Clues in Chipman Disappearance
By 250 News
Terrace, B.C. – Today marks another sad anniversary along the so called “Highway of Tears”.
It has been five years since the disappearance of Tamara Chipman and the RCMP are once again asking the public for any information they might have regarding the 22-year-old’s disappearance.
Chipman was last seen in the late afternoon hours of September 21, 2005, hitchhiking approximately 5 km east of Prince Rupert along Highway 16 near the entrance to the industrial park in the vicinity of Race Trac Gas. She was believed to have been attempting to hitchhike to Terrace. She had recently shaved her head and may have been wearing a light jacket and jeans. Tamara was known to wear various blonde, brunette, and red coloured wigs.
Tamara’s dad reported her missing November 11th after he became concerned about her lack of regular contact with him, something she always did. Both the Terrace and Prince Rupert RCMP started working the case, but the investigation was later turned over to Project E-PANA of the Provincial Unsolved Homicide Unit. An extensive review of the case commenced in September, 2008.
Police believe that she is a victim of foul play, but have not released further details that may compromise the on-going investigation.
RCMP say they are committed to determining what happened to Tamara Chipman and are once again seeking the public’s help. Anyone who may have information pertaining to the disappearance of Tamara Chipman is to contact the Provincial Unsolved Homicide Tip Line at 1-877-543-4822 or Crime Stoppers at 1 800-222-8477.
