New series of photos celebrate life in Prince George
Prince George, B.C.- It is a project that has taken more than a hundred hours to complete, and this morning, was unveiled at the Pine Centre Mall.
A series of photos, depicting the beauty  of the region , has been unveiled in the  centre court.
The images captured by graphic design artist/photographer Bob Michek of Quesnel. “You know I have lived in Quesnel for a long time, and I have been in Prince George a lot, but this project made me really discover this city, and you now, it has some really beautiful places, you have a beautiful city, good on you.”
The project  was sparked by Mall Manager Sonya Hunt, who was fired up after some negative comments were made about Prince George in Vancouver media "They called Prnce George the arm pit of the world and you know, we live here, work here and play here.  Too often the north just rolls over and takes it but this is the economic engine that  drives the Province, and I just wanted to make a statement about the beauty of the north."
Five photos make up each segment of this display which will be changed as the seasons change. Michek is working on new  “fall” photos right now. The smaller photos are 5’ by 5’ and the centre photo in each panelis 9’ by 3.5’. While Michek worked on the photos on his computer he says the rendering of the large photos took lots of time “That centre picture is 1.2 gb’s so you hit ‘go’ and go to bed, that’s how long it will take a computer to chug through that photo.”
Mall manager Sonya Hunt says the photos are meant to “Capture the true beauty of our community and the region in which we live. They also capture the essence of our life style, the spirit of the north.”

oh looks nice very nice
Thanks to the mall management for sharing some of our most beautiful areas... too often we become blind to the real beauty of our community, we see it everyday and forget how wonderful it really is. Thanks for jogging our memories and for putting those images out there for everyone to see! Bravo Pine Centre, Bravo!
I look forward to seeing it.
I guess we have to go to the Pine Centre to see them all ..... :-)
BTW, it might be time to change the black and white images at the airport. They have been up there for several years. I think photos like these that highlight the area might be appropriate.

That is not to say that the pictures of the people are not great. I really did enjoy them when they first went up.
I think the photos at the airport are beautiful. There are several landscape photos in the security screening and departure lounge, not just the faces you see in the arrival area. My favourite is the photo at the end of security of two tree planters overlooking a landscape. Very representative of our community
