Job site of new trades centre at CNC's Prince George campus

Prince George, B.C. - The site of the soon-to-be Technical Education Centre at the College of New Caledonia is a hub of activity...

Local company, IDL Projects Inc., was awarded the multi-million dollar contract back in May and is working towards a March 31st completion date for the 75-thousand square foot TEC Centre.

CNC has received almost $30-million dollars as part of the federal government's Economic Action Plan for the Prince George buildings and a new trades and technology building in Quesnel.

The local TEC building will accomodate 800 student spaces annually and is designed to meet the requirements for Red Seal trades and other technical programs including: welding, machinist, plumbing, automotive collision repair, and engineering technology to name a few.

I guess MLA Bell will be there in March. Appears he didnt show up with provincial money for the project.
Cheers
Provincial money? This building obviously does not meet the "wood first" criterion, so why would the province provide money for building. And to think that it is the same architectural firm from out of town that designed the airport.... :-(

This project seems to be one of the most secret construction projects in town.

How much does this 75,000 SF building actually cost to build? The $30 million appears to be the total federal contribution to a building here as well as in Quesnel.

We used to have architectural firms in this city that were capable to designing such buildings for this community and the communities around us. We have lost that capacity over the last 35 years.
"And to think that it is the same architectural firm from out of town that designed the airport.... :-("

Just a thought here: Architects and architectural firms can bid freely on design contracts in other towns and do not have to restrict themselves to do business only in the city where they are an established business.

Who designed the planned new RCMP building for Prince George?
