WL RCMP Use Spike Belt To Nab Two
By 250 News
Williams Lake, B.C. - Two in custody, two still on the lam...
That's what Williams Lake RCMP are faced with after a residential break-in that left the homeowner injured.
Corporal Brian Evans says officers responded to the report of a break-in and robbery at a residence on South Lakeside Drive early Saturday. Evans says the homeowner had been visiting a neighbour, when he heard a vehicle pull up his driveway. He says, when the man went to investigate, he was attacked and assaulted by four male suspects before they fled.
Evans says the victim stated to police that household property and marijuana plants had been stolen from the residence.
Officers responding to the report noticed the suspect vehicle just south of the city and set up a spike belt in an effort to safely stop the vehicle. But Corporal Evans says the truck carried on, despite several flat tires.
He says a short pursuit ended with the vehicle being abandoned in 150 Mile House. One suspect was arrested at the vehicle. A second male suspect was apprehended with the assistance of a police service dog.
Evans says, "We are continuing our investigation and attempts to identify and arrest the two other suspects in this case."
The two men in custody are facing numerous charges.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Williams Lake detachment at 250-392-6211.
