The following is taken from an article which was posted yesterday on the Western Standard web site:

"Bank of Canada governor, Mark Carney is at it again. This time, with even stronger rhetoric than before.

He is warning consumers to stop taking on more consumer debt.

Instead, Carney should look himself in the mirror and tell himself to tighten the spigot on the Niagara Falls of cheap money, that is the policy he's continuing."

There is more of the article at the following link:

Another week comes to an end.
Have a safe weekend all.
I want to see you all back next week.
Quit being so cheap and Raise The Minimum Wage!
lower the minimum wage. If you don't want minimum wage, go to school.
Has anyone heard whats going on at the old Hart Drugs location? There seems to be some kind of construction activity going on in there.
Oh - and happy Friday everyone, have a safe weekend.
The people of British Columbia started the HST fight and it was the people who did all the hard work canvassing to collect signatures. Mr Vanderzalm and Mr Delany came on board after the fact and helped the fight. It was great to have a charismatic person standing up for the cause.

I canvassed because I felt for the people that are seniors, sick, students, already poor and disabled. I walked my arse off to get as many signatures as possible as did all the other canvassers.

I have been very upset the last month because I feel that OUR (the peoples) cause is being turned into a gong show. The news media is always referring to the anti-HST group as Vanderzalms anti-HST. It is not Vanderzalms anything! The people started this and the people did all the work. Yes Vanderzalm and his side kicks have done a lot as well but I have to wonder about their motives when It is announced that Mr Delany is starting a new party. Was this their drive right from the start? Did they jump on board to use us? Then there was the "SURVIVOR" crap that made our cause look so bad. How rediculous! This is NOT AND NEVER HAS BEEN A GAME to the people. The news media and the politicians are turning our cause into a platform to insult one another. All the negative feedback is coming from things that politicians are doing and saying. It has really become an embarrassment to those of us who are actually fighting this because they care for the people.

I am feeling very upset at the way this has played out. It is good that the petition has survived this long but the publicity stunts have got to go. THIS IS NOT VANDERZALMS ANTI-HST, IT IS THE PEOPELS ANTI-HST.
Loki you sound like you have gone nowhere but Prince George. Reading your posts I notice that you are very conservative to a fault. If you were lets say open minded you wouldn't post so much negative posts. I noticed that you always stick with the status quo. Most Prince George people have gone nowhere except to the tropics for a week or so every year. Now as for education. All my family which means my Dad and his six brothers, 20 or more first cousins and my two sisters are not educated. Only my brother who is a studying political scientist at Mount Allison University. The rest of my family are working jobs from owning Stucco company to working in a hospital for twenty four years in house keeping. For me I am on a disability for Border Line Personality Disorder. I work at a local thrift store on a part time bases and enjoy being there. To me I have no reason to go back to school to educate. Actually I learn things on my own not when some over paid teacher tells me to learn. For example playing guitar. It took me three years to understand how to tune it by ear and hearing the sound. I learn on my own. The only people that don't want min wage to 10 dollars an hour is the cheap business owners that care more about their bottom dollar then paying people a proper living wage. To me most of those folks need a good lesson on labour unions is what I say. The H.S.T is a result of public greed. Have to have more money, more this more that
Here's what the Vancouver Sun's Vaughn Palmer said yesterday when speaking to CKNW about that very issue.

"Two of his (Vander Zalm's) closest associates launched a political party yesterday. His number two guy, Chris Delaney, and his chief financial agent, Sal Vetro, have started a political party. Recall is no longer just about getting rid of a tax, it's about starting a political party and forming a government, so it's legitimate to look at the kind of judgment being exercised by a bunch of people who want to be the next government of British Columbia."

Apparently it's called the B.C. First Party.

Some people's efforts may be being hi-jacked for a totally different purpose...

Aren't politics in B.C. a riot?
Who is the genius that placed that giant, illumianated, flashing sign on Victoria Street by the car wash? Its insanely blinding at night, and amazingly, not yet responsible for an accident.
I noticed that too sunshine - the other day it was flashing red and blue. I caught it in my mirror and started to check for emergency vehicles for a moment, then I realized what it was.
GASP

Business owners are tyring to make money!? The nerve!

Labor unions (and minimum wage) create artificial price floors. Basic economics does not support artificial price floors or ceilings. Resonable (or non-existent) minimum wage is good economic policy.

High minimum wage and strong unions is about social policy. Social policy is what was studied in University by people that are now on minumum wage.

In the end someone has to pay or services will disappear. Go ahead and increase min wage to $20 and lets see how that impacts our purchasing power. Then I will have to demand $80 per hour. And then the minimum wage group is going to demand $40 per hour and on and on and nothing really changes.
+1 on that sign! Got blinded by it for the first time last nite. Wowsers!
Texting while driving is illegal. What about texting while flagging traffic?
Twice in the last week I have observed flagpersons texting while at the same time trying to control traffic in construction zones.
Theres a no brainer for ya!
Thanks Cris for siding. You people who always say " go back to school" With what? Student loan you say? If one can't afford to live as it is, how the hell is a person to pay off a student loan? Cheap business owners that care more about their bottom dollar then paying people a proper living wage.
I'm curious.

Does anybody know the what would happen to our economy if EVERYONE went out and got an education?

Wouldn't that put everyone in a higher income bracket thereby eliminating all minimum wage jobs and many of our small business's?

There's got to be some serious consenquences to this. I'm certainly not in a position to even try guessing but I am curious about it.

Get a grip Hammmy. I'm self emploted & typically make less than my employees. What a greedy piece of crap I am.
self exploited?
Feels like it!
Hey guys,
Does anyone know where I could find info on the amount of bears who have been shot and killed this season in and around P.G.?
Sad to think you get shot for being hungry.

Maybe harsh fines should be handed out to people who are found responsible for a bears death.

Respect.
BC Hydro and the use of American companies

I have heard through a customer of ours (electrical company)that they don't have a lot of work right now, along with other PG businesses, because BC Hydro hires an American company to do the work up here. Anyone know if this is true? If it is, it' unbelievable that a BC owned company would hire from out of the country. How can one complain about this?
Chris said to Loki: "I work at a local thrift store on a part time bases and enjoy being there. To me I have no reason to go back to school to educate."

Now there's the "liberal to a fault" attitude if I've ever heard one. You feel the government should legislate people to pay you more money even though some have "no reason" to try and improve their own situation.

Gimme, gimme, gimme.

I know many people who put themselves through school, debt and parental assistance-free if they really WANTED to. Not surprisingly, these people who learned that hard work and dedication go a long way to having an enjoyable and self-sustained life are NOT the same people who sit back and ask for more handouts.

Thanks interceptor.

Poor things. Hate to see what the numbers will be when they update it.
rambleon I would challenge anyone anywhere as to my illness which stems for surviving S.I.D.S as a child. Which I went home last winter and obtained a news paper article which is proof of the event. I had some piss poor legal aid lawyer lie to the court and say it couldn't of happened. If I do find a lawyer in this town to sue him I will. I was promised that the income would stay up with inflation and the rise of costs. This hasn't happened. Now you can take a back seat on this issue bud and suck it up. My family went to war and fought for your right to even breath in this country so you can go straight to hell if you think I am going to back down on this issue.
rambleon .... chris also wrote:

We do not know anything more about Chris. We do not know whether he has had occupational assessments and counselling around finding an occupation which might suit him.

A traditional education path is not for everyone. That kind of attitude is displayed only by those who know little about it. They look on education as being like a prescription drug. Take one a day of these for 2 years and you will be cured of poverty and lack of job skills.

There are tons of people with an education who are working below the expected salary for what they have studied and have supposedly developed knowledge, skills, and attitudes for.
Hey everyone. does anyone know if the Haunted house in the Hart mall is happening this year?
regarding the bears, people go to Jasper to see the bears but lately none are there. So here is a great opertunity
Number one, my comments weren't made in regard to anyone's disability. Chris likes his job and has "no reason" to pursue work elsewhere. There was no mention of not being able to do so. This is an opinion website ad it is my opinion that having made a decision to not change your personal situation all while expecting better monetary reward is, how Chrislivingdowntown would put it, "liberal to a fault.". If a person is restricted by their ability to find other employment it should be an increase in disability payments, not the minimum wage, that should make up the difference. You're right Gus, post secondary education isn't the path for everyone, it is just one of many ways to improve your employability.

Chris, thank you to your family, my family and the families of many others for making Canada the best place in the world to live. Aren't we lucky that we can live somewhere that we all are able to voice our opinions? I'm sorry if you feel like my comments were a personal attack, that wasn't the intent.
I was correcting my spelling when I posted, sorry about that.

Just think people coming to Prince George to see the bears. I have had a bear in my yard for the past years, I do not leave fruit around and I keep my garbage in and the bears leave me and my animals alone.

So instead of killing the bears lets see if we could put PG on the tourist map.

I had family that lived in Jasper when bears use to roam the streets and you can live with them if you obey the rules.
Just a few "peeves'
#1-Minimum wage will not go up. As with money, there is power. Keep the population sucking the hind tit and they can't rebel as they can not afford to take the time off to protest our government's policies!
#2-The law regarding cell phones and driving is good, but what about the people that continue to drive and talk as well as having a dog on their lap as well as a cell phone in their hands? See it all the time. Cops could make more $ off of these fines than the drinking of one beer does.
#3-BEARS! Hey people, was a bad year for their natural foods so to help them out, clean up your yards, garbage etc. and odds are they will just pass on buy. If not, (feel free to call and have them shot )because those of you that can't get off the couch to do a little extra, can sleep better at night knowing you did your part to keep them out of your yard!
#4-Anyone notice how long it is taking the repaving of 97 north from Summit Lake to Bear Lake. That must be the last job of the year for that outfit and they are making the best of it. Is the same company that did the work less than two years ago. Wonder, do they have political connections to our current government?
See you all next week, have a great weekend!!!
iam on disability cause of arthrities at 54 years old its miserable, i would like a min job
Verballel - I honestly dont know, but last year we volunteered and helped collect leaves and work the haunted house. This year we have had no phone call and time is running short...
Municca, I wouldn't get too concerned about Chris Delaney founding some new Party. He was prominent in the BC Conservative Party all the time he was involved in the FightHST campaign. Deputy leader, I believe.

Just when the BC Conservatives, who were formerly the ONLY provincial Party that was FOR the HST had a change of heart, (if they really have, considering the background of some of the other leading lights involved with them, i.e. former federal Conservative MP Randy White, for one), I do not know.

But in any case, if Delaney wants leave them to form another Party, BC First, or whatever, I really don't see what that has to do with FightHST. Which has had, and still has, amongst its supporters a whole cross section of BC political thought, including a few other Party leaders.

Personally, I doubt Delaney will have any more luck getting elected to the Legislature as a BC First candidate than he did as a Reform, Unity, or BC Conservative candidate in elections past. Another instance of a would-be 'leader' with an absence of 'followers', I'm afraid. His problem kind of reminds me of the closing remarks of a one-time US Senator from one of the southern States after he'd just given a long speech outlining why everyone should vote for him ~ " Well, there you have it, them's my principles, folks, and if you don't like 'em, I'll change 'em!"
I am 58 years old. I have 8 fused vertebra in my back, I have had half of one of my lungs removed, and because of some of it or all of it, I am crippled up beyond belief.

As some of you know, I have moved to Calgary. Why? To get work. I get up every working day at 4:30 AM. I climb into a gravel truck at apprx. 6:15 AM and head down the road for up to 12 hours a day.

I'm a journeyman carpenter, I have a survey ticket, and I have a Class 1 drivers license. All skills that I have obtained over the years. There are many things I am unable to do today, but one of them is NOT getting a job.

Would I work for minimum wage? You bet I would, but not at the trades I am qualified in. I have worked for minimum wage several times in my life. Most recently, when I drove TAXI in Prince George. That was below minimum wage most nights.

We are not all going to be scholars, we still need some grunts to do the jobs that you "well educated people" won't do. Should pay the grunts well. I believe minimum wage should be $10.00 plus!

One thing that the rich and well educated forget, is that all us less educated people had a hand in making your life more comfortable (i.e. build your houses, places where you work). Don't ever forget it! Most of you don't know how to hammer a nail, or which end of a shovel you should stick in the muck pile!!

And that my friends, is the true hard facts in my opinion!
Forthegoodofmankind:- "I have heard through a customer of ours (electrical company)that they don't have a lot of work right now, along with other PG businesses, because BC Hydro hires an American company to do the work up here. -----------------------------------------Who would you complain to?

A government that builds ferry boats in Germany when we have shipyards right here in BC that have proven in the past they're more than capable of building ships just as well?

Welcome to the 'globalised' world.

(BTW, Washington State Ferries, indeed all ships carrying cargoes between two US ports, HAVE TO BE built in the USA. By law. Now if the world's foremost bastion of free enterprise recognises the need to support its own industries, what in the Hell is the matter with that white-haired dolt in charge up here?)
With Gordon Cambells signature a whole plant in Kamloops closed down because he made it so that BC lotteries no longer had to come from BC. There are many such examples of work that could be done in BC that is sent else where.
The start of another week.
