Police look for Rightful Owner of Coin Collection

Prince George, B.C. - Someone is missing a coin collection, and Prince George RCMP have it.

In early September, RCMP pulled over a stolen vehicle and arrested the male driver.

While searching the vehicle, members located a card board box which contained a quantity of coins. Some of the coins were loose and some were protected in packaging and wrappers. The coins were also described as being special issue, commemorative coins, and collections in certain years.

Police have exhausted their search for the possible owner and are now asking the public for their assistance.

If you are missing your coin collection or were a victim of a Break and Enter or Theft on or before September 3rd, and can identify these coins, please contact the Prince George RCMP at (250) 561-3300.

Maybe they really belonged to the fellow in the car?? He had only stolen the vehicle so he could take his coin collection to the pawn shop.

Intresting story, especially with so much internet fraud.
I wonder if the coins had come into someones possesion that shouldnt of had the coins in the first place, therefore making it hard to report them missing if they were obtained by fraudulent means.
Thieves and fraudsters, same differance !
Maybe the R.C.M.P. know of some internet fraudsters in Prince George.

Having collected stamps in my early years, and having had a grandfather who was an internationally well known numismatician (coin collector) first by hobby and then by trade, these coins are likely no big deal. In other words, they may not be worth much more in the marketplace than the value of the metal.

The interesting story to some might be that his most valuable collection existed of coin forgeries which were more valuable than the officially minted coins since there were considerably fewer in existence.
