Prince George, B.C. - Jury selection starts today for the trial of Denis Ratte.
Ratte  was charged in December of 2008 following a lengthy investigation into the  disappearance  of his wife, Wendy Ratte.

The 47 year old mother of two disappeared in August of 1997. Her abandoned van was discovered in the parking lot of what was then the Overwaitea grocery store at 15th Avenue  and Spruce Streets in Prince George. She has not been seen or heard from since.

While no remains have been found, Ratte has been charged with one count of second degree murder.

The trial will be a little out of the ordinary for the  Prince George Court House in that a French/English interpreter will be present to translate the testimony in both official languages.

The trial is expected to last 6 weeks.

The public allowed to comment during a trial? Hmm? I thought that was a no-no? Jury sequestered? I could be wrong.
