On the same day Northern Health laid out plans to pursue a Northern B.C. Cancer Centre, the University of Northern B.C. has announced a program that could one day contribute to staffing that facility.
Pending final approval from the Ministry of Advanced Education, UNBC will offer a new bachelor's degree in Health Sciences starting this fall. The program will offer three majors: Biomedical Studies, Environmental Health, and Aboriginal and Rural Health.
UNBC Vice-President Academic and Provost, Howard Blunt, says, "The diversity of this program is one of its defining characteristics." Blunt say it contains the prerequisites that will prepare students for further studies in areas as diverse as medicine, occupational therapy, speech pathology, healthcare management and administration and community and public health.
The application deadline for students interested in registering is March 15th.
