The Kings and Millionaires may be rivals on the ice, but off the ice they have scored another great deal for CNC students and employees.
College of New Caledonia employees and students will receive 50% off the regular admission price to Prince George Spruce Kings and Quesnel Millionaires games when they show their ID cards.
“We are delighted that both teams are back on board with us again this year and offering such a great deal to the CNC community,” said Randall Heidt, CNC’s Associate Director of Communications and Development.
The Spruce Kings will give CNC students and employees 50% off admission for all games when they show their college ID when purchasing tickets at the Coliseum in Prince George. “That works out to only $5 to see a junior hockey game -- it’s just an amazing value,” Heidt said. “And the Millionaires have upped their discount this year to half price tickets for CNC students and employees when Prince George is in town.”
The two teams will also battle for bragging rights and ownership of the CNC Cup again this year, which was won by Quesnel last year at the Coliseum. “It was a little tough to have them skate around with the Cup in our building last year,” said Jim Young, Spruce Kings Marketing Manager. “We hope to return the favour this year,” he said with a smile, pointing out this year’s final game for the CNC Cup will be in Quesnel on Feb. 8. That will be the 10th and final regular season game between the two BCHL teams. The Cup will be awarded to the team with the most wins against each other, with goals for and against and penalty minutes being used as tiebreakers.
“We’d love to see large groups of CNC students and staff cheering for their cities and favourite players again this year,” said Kit Collins, member of the marketing team for the Quesnel Millionaires. “It’s a very affordable evening out with friends, so bring your college friends and have a great time.”
The Spruce Kings have won the CNC Cup six times in the championships’ nine-year history. “It’s great to turn up the heat for the CNC Cup this year and we hope CNC students will come out and cheer on their classmates,” said Young. “Every year we have about eight players who attend classes at CNC and I know they would love their classmates to come out and make some noise and have some signs and stuff.”
The Spruce Kings are also giving away 300 free tickets to CNC students and employees to attend games at the Coliseum. “We’re excited to give our students free tickets to see this fast paced, action-packed hockey,” said Heidt. “BCHL hockey is a great value at the regular price, but with free tickets and discounted rates, you’d be crazy not to go this year.”
Upcoming CNC Cup games in Quesnel are Oct. 16, Nov. 20, Dec. 30 and CNC Cup night Feb. 8. The Spruce Kings will host the Millionaires on Dec. 11, Dec. 29 and Jan. 7.
