The city of Prince George lost a true supporter earlier this week with the sudden passing of Sue Armstrong.

Sue died in Vancouver Tuesday night after suddenly taking ill a few weeks ago.

Many of you may not make the connection with Sue until you hear the name of the business she operated, Uniglobe Sunburst Travel.

It is here that the agencies seeking to receive some help came to her seeking free travel or her help in raising much needed funds.

She gave and she gave more than regularly.

From the time I met Sue she was always promoting this city and the people in it. She loved this city and the city loved her in return.

Sue Armstrong was the kind of person that didn’t stand up to take the accolades, sufficient for her was her ability to stay in the back ground trying to make things work.

This community meant everything to her and if you look at her record in this community you can quickly see why. Former  Director with Child Find B.C.,  Director on the Board of  Initiatives Prince George, member of the Progress Board,  Former executive member of Yellowhead  Rotary, just some of the organizations to which  Sue  offered her time.,

My most recent encounter with Sue came when she said that she would not be able to attend the Evening of Pink because, "she wasn’t feeling well”, but  she asked if my wife and I would go along instead of her and keep her husband Bob company.

I had no idea, nor did we ever dream that the lady who had contributed to making the Evening of Pink a premiere night would not be with us today.

It is very simple to say that we in this community will have a tough time replacing her and her dedication to Prince George, it is a quality that will be hard to replace.

Some people choose to stay in the background content to pour out their hearts and their efforts without ever expecting a thank you.

We all owe Sue that Thank you today.

A service for Sue will be held on October 16th at  Sacred Heart Church.    In keeping with Sue's giving spirit,  the family asks that  instead of flowers,  you make a donation to the charity of your choice.

Thank you for honoring Sue, by writing the tribute for Sue Armstrong

I had the privilege of having Sue as a long time friend.

As you said in this article, she cared about Pr George and showed it.
The expression "walk the talk" would fit here.
