Prince George, B.C.-   The remains of a woman  found Friday night in L.C. Gunn Park  were discovered by a police dog unit.  “Since late September early October 2010, the Prince George RCMP has dedicated extra resources concentrating on patrols of public areas in the community and outlying areas in attempts to further various missing persons investigations." says  RCMP Corporal Dan Moskuluk.

He says the purpose of these patrols have also been an effort to further establish a public outreach with those who are more vulnerable persons in our community.

"Last Friday evening one such patrol was in the area near LC Gunn Park which is known to be frequented by sex trade workers. As a result of an unrelated investigation, the plain clothes officers conducted a foot search of the wooded area utilizing a Police dog. It was during this search by the RCMP dog team that the body of the female was discovered” states Cpl Moskaluk.

“The death of this female is being considered as suspicious and is being investigated as such. The identity, race nor age of the deceased have not been established at this time. As reported, we are dealing with human remains with a degree of decomposition and not skeletal remains, therefore a complete forensic examination to establish age and identity is needed to conclusively determine these facts. We anticipate that an autopsy will be conducted in early this coming week” stated Cpl Dan Moskaluk.

Investigators remain on the scene, RCMP anticipate utilizing search trained volunteers from Prince George Search and Rescue Team to bolster the grid search that is being conducted.

Two women  have been  missing in the Prince George  area since late August, Natasha Montgomery and  Cynthia Maas  have both been the  subject of  missing persons reports.  Both women were living "high risk life styles".
