Search of Area Where Remains Discovered Complete

Forensic Identification team and other RCMP investigators work at site where remains were discovered, just beyond the bend in this trail on the south side of L.C. Gunn Park.
Prince George, B.C. - A grid seach of the area where female remains were found in the south end of L.C. Gunn Park has been completed. Investigators have tightened the perimeter of their work to the immediate area where the remains were found on Firday night.
RCMP will not say if the remains have been removed from the area yet, or if they are any closer to identifying the person.
RCMP Corporal Dan Moskaluk ( in photo at right, click on photo for video) says the remains are female, and that since this is not a case of skeletal remains, the focus is on trying to find out if this is one of the "more recent" missing persons cases.
The most recent missing persons cases involve two women who were known to live high risk life styles. 35 year old Cynthia Maas and Natasha Montgomery have both been reported missing. Montgomery was last seen in August, while Maas was last seen in September.
Because the park is adjacent to Highway 16, there is also a question of whether this would be investigated by the E-Pana investigative team which has been dealing with the number of murders and missing women from along Highway 16 which has been labelled "the Highway of Tears". Corporal Moskaluk says at this time, the investigation does not involve E-Pana, that it is being handled by the Prince George and North District RCMP with some other resources from E-Division .
Corporal Moskaluk says the age of the female and identity have not yet been determined.
The remains were discovered Friday night in the south end of L.C. Gunn Park, an area where streetworkers often take their johns. The area is dark and secluded. Corporal Moskaluk says plain clothes officers working on another investigation were in the area and came upon the remains as part of another investigation.
