Prince George, B.C.- RCMP investigators continue to hold a tight perimeter in the area south of LC Gunn Park where female remains were discovered Friday night.
Police expect an autopsy to be conducted this week in Kamloops, at which time they should have a positive identification of the remains and can say for certain if this woman met with foul play.
There are two women who are missing in Prince George, 35 year old Cynthia Maas and 23 year old Natasha Montgomery. Both had been known to work the streets .
L.C. Gunn Park is known as a place where street workers take their johns. The area is heavily wooded, and dark. Police have said the remains were discovered by the RCMP dog unit Friday when they were working on a separate investigation.
About a dozen people from Prince George Search and Rescue helped in a grid search of the area on the weekend. It is not known if they came up with anything that may assist in this investigation.
The discovery of the remains comes nearly one year after the body of 35 year old Jill Stechenko was discovered in the gravel pit near Moore’s Meadow on the other side of the city. She was a street worker who had been missing for nearly five weeks when her remains were discovered.
